Group bookings
It is possible to rent a whole barge with family or friends – a so-called group booking. In that case, we will make a tailor-made program for you.
Even if you do not intend to ride a bike, you can still book a passage with one of your barges. Then the barge is your mode of transport, in combination with touring buses and/or public transport.
More than on the biking trips, the emphasis will be on the history and the culture of the region we visit. There will be excursions and guided tours of the cities
Standard for group bookings (included in the price) are: the number of nights, breakfast, dinner (3 courses) and bed linen. This is the so-called standard package. You can also select a luxury package. This includes a more elaborate dinner (4 courses), lunch on board, plus extra service.
Not included in the charter price is: bike rentals, tour guides, entrance fees of museums and the like, drinks on board, personal insurances and transfers to and from the barge. First we come up with a tailor-made program together to suit your wishes and then we will send you a quote.

Barges in all of Europe
The Netherlands and Belgium, of course, are perfectly suited for a nice bike & barge vacation. The countries are flat and there are separate bicycle paths almost everywhere. Many of the historic cities are situated on the water and the barges can dock within walking distance of the city center. Outside the cities, the countryside is very varied and there are many places worth seeing, such as the famous Keukenhof; the historical village, De Zaanse Schans; and De Hoge Veluwe National Park.
For anyone wanting to go on a bike & barge vacation outside the Netherlands and Belgium for a change, Eurosail Travel also organizes trips through Germany and France. For instance, the barge Sailing Home can be found on the river Mosel in Germany and France. A splendid bicycle path runs parallel to this romantic river with its welcoming wine villages, age-old cities, and evocative castles.
Fleur is ideally tailored to the small French canals and locks, and has been cruising all around France since 2002. For anyone who loves the unspoiled French countryside as well as good food and a good glass of wine, a cruise on the Fleur is an excellent choice.
The tour begins in Amsterdam and takes you to the beautiful, historical cities of Haarlem, Leiden and Delft. You visit Keukenhof, where you can admire the Dutch tulips in all their splendor. We also visit the windmills in Kinderdijk and you will get the opportunity to admire the famous Delft earthenware. And a visit to the parliament buildings in The Hague and the flower auction in Aalsmeer are also on the program. On your return to Amsterdam, you will go for a boat tour on the canals and have the opportunity to visit the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum.
This tour starts in Amsterdam and goes in easterly direction over the rivers Lower Rhine and IJssel. During your bike tours you will enjoy the gorgeous river scenery. The first day, you bike along the winding river Vecht with many impressive castles on its banks. We also visit a real Dutch cheese farm, where they still make cheese in the traditional way. Later that week, we bike through De Hoge Veluwe National Park with its abundant scenic beauty. We also visit the historical villages of Zutphen and Kampen. On the way back to Amsterdam we spend the night in the old fishing villages of Harderwijk and Spakenburg. Back in Amsterdam we will have time for a boat tour on the canals or a visit to the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum.
During this tour we focus on the historical Flemish cities: Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges. But before we arrive there, you will get to know a very beautiful part of the Netherlands. You bike along the winding river Vecht with the impressive castles on its banks, you visit a real Dutch cheese farm, where cheese is still produced according to traditional methods and you visit the Dutch windmills in Kinderdijk. From the fortified town Willemstad, which is situated on the impressive wide Zeeland streams, we head for Belgium. There we spent the night in Antwerp, the city of Rubens, whose paintings you can admire in the cathedral. You bike from Antwerp to Ghent along the beautiful tidal river, the Lower Scheldt. There you breathe in the atmosphere of the olden days in the town center with its impressive Belfort and the St. Baaf’s Cathedral, where you can admire the famous triptych of painter Jan van Eyck. Final destination is Bruges with its picturesque town center and probably the most beautiful of the historical Flemish cities.

We cruise south on the river Scheldt and we pass Ghent, where we breathe in the atmosphere of the old days in the town center with its impressive Belfort and St. Baaf’s Cathedral, where you can admire the famous triptych of painter Jan van Eyck. Next, we visit Oudenaarde and Tournai, which was an important cathedral town for pilgrims during the Middle Ages.
Once in France we continue our trip on the wonderful old canal of Saint-Quentin while still following the now unnavigable river Scheldt. We pass through the Tunnel of Riqueval to reach the historical city of Saint-Quentin, where the Gothic basilica and the town hall are worth a visit.
After that we follow the valley of the Somme (a battlefield in WWI) in a southerly direction via Noyon to Compiègne. From the Middle Ages on, this part of France used to be the center of the French kingdom. We follow the valley of the river Oise with its varied scenery and arrive at Conflans. Here the Oise flows into the Seine and we follow this river upstream in the direction of Paris, past the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre museum to our docking place in the Port d’ Arsenal, near the Place de la Bastille.This trip we follow the trail of the pilgrims to the source of the river Scheldt.
We start our tour in Paris, the famous capital of France, not far from the Notre Dame. We follow the Seine downstream and pass the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower into Conflans. From here we cruise through the valley of the Oise to Compiègne. From the Middle Ages on, this part of France used to be the center of the French kingdom. A visit to the palace of the French kings is included in our program.
Later we follow the wonderful old canal of St.-Quentin to the historical city of St.-Quentin, where the Gothic basilica and the town hall are well worth a visit. Equally impressive are the royal gardens, commissioned by the French kings and designed by their royal architects. We travel through the woods of Fontainebleau and head for Barbizon, the artist village. We follow the Seine up to Moret-sur-Loing, a quaint village on the banks of the Loing. From there we follow the Canal du Centre to the beautiful medieval towns of Ferrieres and Chateau-Landon. Our final destination is Montargis, a picturesque town with beautiful little canals.

You board the Fleur in the heart of Paris, not far from the Notre-Dame. From there, we follow the valley of the Marne upstream. The first stay is the city of Meaux, famous for its Brie. Later on we arrive in the real Champagne region and you bike straight across the vineyards on the rolling banks of the Marne.
We visit the immense champagne cellars in Epernay, capital of the Champagne region, as well as small Champagne growers, who will be proud to let you taste their best Champagne. We spend a night in Château-Thierry, scene of the American battles in World War I. Our destination is Reims, with its beautiful Gothic cathedral.
The cycling terrain is not very easy. We cycle on small country roads that go up and down through the Champagne fields.

We will stay the night in Trier, Germany’s oldest city with the Porta Nigra, which dates back to the first century A.D. Afterwards we leave the Mosel and continue on the river Saar. We’ll visit charming Saarburg with its beautiful waterfalls in the center of town. Our tour ends in Metz and a visit to its stunning cathedral.
